Bring a pen, paper and an open heart.

This creative writing workshop is designed for published authors as well as people who have an idea or a yearning to write but might never have picked up a pen. It can be used for a novel, memoir or for an adventure into a piece you don’t yet know.

Enjoy a holiday in a scenic village on the Aegean island of Lesbos, while you sharpen your writing skills and creativity, with seven days of inspiration from your environment.

We will work with:

  • music

  • meditation

  • photographs

  • poetry: your own and some that will be provided

  • memories: distant and recent, real and imagined

  • the natural environment on the island

You will work on:

  • silencing your inner critics

  • finding your own voice

  • exploring stories

  • developing characters

  • writing authentic dialogue

  • conceiving, creating and crafting scenes

You will also gain insight into the publishing industry. Expect the unexpected from yourself and your writing.

About The Talking Table

A place where people eat, stay and talk together. Our home base is a century-old Turkish manor house on the main square of Molyvos, a medieval port village with ancient roots. Molyvos is located on a northern peninsula of the fabled island of Lesvos, very close to Turkey, in the Aegean Sea.

Our guests at The Talking Table share breakfast and a long-table style meal together each day, mostly in the evenings. We serve generous Greek food mostly, but equally important to the food is the conversation around the table. In this, we follow the guidance of another Greek philosopher with ties to Lesbos: Epicurus, who once taught here. At The Talking Table, we have workshops and classes in the mornings, leaving the rest of the day until dinner free to roam, explore, rest or prepare. Weather permitting, we usually make an excursion to some remote beach and taverna on one day of a Talking Table week. For the Aristotle event we will cross a mountain pass to the Gulf of Kaloni for a site visit where the philosopher spent two years on his research. This sea gulf is famous for its sardines in summer.
